// What is the name of your blog and how did you pick that name?
Hey Thriftary readers, my name is Amanda and I blog over at Amanda k. by the Bay! I had such a hard time choosing a name for my blog. It seriously took me about a month of choosing a name, then deciding it was stupid and starting over. I wanted to be sure it was a name I wasn't going to get sick of in a few weeks. I live in the Pacific Northwest and absolutely love it, so I wanted the name to reflect that. I'm sure you can figure it out from there...my name plus location! Oh, and it rhymes, haha.

// What do you blog about?
I started blogging to motivate myself to use my camera more frequently, so I love to share my daily life through photos. I also love blogging about food, things that inspire me, style and outfits, beauty stuff and anything in between.

// What are 5 things that your readers probably don't even know about you?
  1. Well, this is a big one but I don't write about it too much, so it's possible my readers don't know! I attended Western Washington University and got my bachelors in Psychology this past spring. While I try and figure out what the hell I want to do with my life, I'm working as a Clinique consultant. I ultimately would love to become a mental health counselor.
  2. My boyfriend Tommy and I have been together for 6 years. He was a senior at a neighboring high school and I was a junior when we started dating. It's a little embarrassing, but our relationship totally blossomed through MySpace. Fast forward six years and I'm graduated from college and we are living together with a cat that we sometimes treat like a baby. Thanks Myspace.
  3. I love Game of Thrones. I'm currently reading the fifth book and counting down the days until season three! Ahhhh, so excited!
  4. I used to live in Hawaii when I was really young. Unfortunately I was too young to really remember anything. Damn you childhood amnesia!
  5. I'm a third generation Swede. Give me some swedish meatballs and pepparkakor cookies and I am a happy girl.

// What would your perfect fall day look like if money and location were not a factor?
Well if money wasn't a factor, I would hop on a plane and spend the day (or two...or eight) in Germany drinking lots of beer at Oktoberfest, eating, and exploring the sights. A more realistic perfect fall day would include a lazy morning, a good book, a huge bowl of soup, antiquing, and wine.

// What does your perfect fall outfit entail?
Comfortable knee length dress, tights, boots, cardigan and a huge soft scarf. In real life this outfit usually includes a rain jacket...cause it really does rain a lot up here in the Seattle area.

// What will we find you listening to this fall?
Fiona Apple, David Bazan, Sufjan Stevens, and maybe some Jay-Z if I'm feeling sassy.

// What is your most embarrassing moment that you can recall (feel free to be candid)?
Luckily I don't have too many embarrassing stories, but one that comes to mind was at a swim meet when I was in 7th grade. It was a huge swim meet in the season, and I was extra nervous because my dad was able to make it. It was the free-style event, so the swimmers all get up on the little board thing (...you know what I'm talking about, right?) so they can jump in when they hear the "beep." Before the beep, somebody blows a whistle to tell the swimmers to get ready. Apparently I was feeling extra ready, because I leaned forward...but a little too much. I know I was gonna fall in and couldn't stop myself. It wouldn't have been so bad, but I let out a super awkward little scream as I fell in. I remember being underwater and just wanting to drowned right there and then instead of having to get out of the pool and start over. Not super embarrassing, but when you're in 7th grade just about everything is embarrassing.

// What is (are) your biggest fear(s)?
Loosing my family/loved ones, being buried alive, George R.R. Martin dying before finishing the Game of Thrones series, a huge earthquake, not feeling content at the end of my life. Oh, and I really don't like monkeys.

// Anything else we should know about you?
I'm friendly, so hop over to my blog and say hello!

  1. thanks for introducing me to Amanda. She has a very interesting life - she graduated with a degree in psychology yet she works at Clinique, a make-up line (make-up conceals or highlights who we are - whichever way you look at it). I'm headed on over to check her out!
