Camping. It's the new black.

We are trying trying TRYING to get the most of these last few days of semi-warmer weather. It is already getting below freezing in the mountains... So good luck, us.

Burley and I headed up to one of our new fav camping spots this past Friday and got a sweet evening to ourselves, and of course our cute pup. I didn't even take any pictures. We enjoyed our time. Drank wine and played cards. Sat around the fire and took inventory of things. It was so special and so needed.

We even decided to sleep in our car and turn the heat on when we got freezing that morning. O.M.G. what a treat. As anyone who camps knows, sleeping in your car is the coldest option usually, because it is not insulated like a tent. But does your tent turn on and have auto heat?! Nope. Neither does ours. But our car does.

This was first thing, the next morning, while our coffee was brewing:

I love photos that capture the half-sleeping look. I think they are romantic. Burley hates them. I won here.

Then we had some buddies come up the next morning and spend the next day and evening with us. It was just a blast. They brought more coffee, we made breakfast, we all went chopping down wood for the fire, we lounged around said fire, we watched the sunset from the top of the continental divide... I mean, you just can't beat this stuff.

  1. This sounds so fun! A few years ago, after one really terrible camping trip, I gave up my desire to ever camp with my husband again. At least hearing your recount, makes it evident that it is possible to have a nice, romantic, camping trip. Maybe I'll give camping another chance. :)

  3. Looks like you guys had so much fun. Sometimes you need those moments where you just take a break from pictures and really live in the moment. So glad you took the picture of that sunset though, it's gorgeous :)

  7. Seeing these pictures makes me realize how much miss camping!! It has been 2 years now since we went--I have a close friend who is like a friggin professional camper--she has this incredible packing list and taught us how to prepare for it, etc. I was hooked after the first time!! We went 3-4 more times, but then life just got in the way and so it has been a long while. I need to get back to it...newest GFC follower from the blog hop. Would love it if you could visit my humorous blog site and follow back--I'd be super grateful if you could. Thanks for sharing! http://Menopausalmother.blogspot.com
